SUMMARY:Gate in the evening - Curriculum of silence
DESCRIPTION:Towards the end of the day\, the school grounds become quieter. This is the best opportunity to explore the original use of the historic building ensemble. The spiritual life of the monks followed strict rules and the pupils also lived in the past in an extremely narrow and demanding curriculum. \nSilence and stillness were a divine commandment for the monks. They used hand signals to communicate the bare essentials. These were compiled in the so-called signa lists. This exciting source of Cistercian life will also be the subject of this guided tour. \nTicket: 12 € / incl. 1 glass of wine

SUMMARY:Summer Camp - Activities for Children in the Zwettl Monastery Region
DESCRIPTION:In July and August 2026\, the municipality of Zwettl\, in cooperation with the Cisterscapes partners\, will offer a varied program featuring many exciting activities in the Zwettl monastery landscape: \n\nMonday\, July 6\, 2026\, 9 to 11 a.m. \nMaking Monastic Herbal Cocktails with Christiane Klinger \nThe monks were well versed in the plants that can be used to make herbal drinks and beers. Immerse yourself in the world of herbs in the terraced garden of Zwettl Abbey and learn more about the effects of aromatic herbs that you can use to make your own herbal cocktail. Test your new knowledge with a herbal scent game. You can also take home a potted herb plant so you’ll have everything you need for your herbal drinks at home. \n \n\nTuesday\, July 14 and 21\, 2026\, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. \nMake Your Own Calendula Ointment with Christiane Klinger \nImmerse yourself in the world of monastic herbal medicine and become an herbalist\, just like Hildegard von Bingen. Explore the terraced herb garden at Zwettl Abbey and learn more about the healing power of herbs; harvest marigolds yourself and use them to make your own ointment. You can then fill a lip balm container with it and use it at home to care for your lips or sore spots. You’ll also make your own herbal drink\, which you can enjoy right there as a refreshing treat. Snacking on fruit from the abbey’s orchard is also allowed as a snack during breaks. \n \n\nWednesday\, July 14\, 2026\, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. \nMake Your Own Jam with Christiane Klinger \nCome to the Zwettl Abbey snack garden and sample and harvest its fruits (strawberries\, raspberries\, currants\, etc.) so we can make jam together. Design your own label for your abbey garden jam\, which you can then take home with you. Of course\, we’ll then taste the finished jam together on a slice of bread with butter. Pick your own herbs from the terrace garden at Zwettl Abbey to make your own herbal refreshment to go with it. Along the way\, learn more about the world of abbey herbs. \n \n\nWednesday\, July 15\, 2026\, and Friday\, August 7\, 2026\, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. on both days \nDiscover Stift Zwettl with Gabriele Zottl \nDive into the mysterious world of Zwettl Abbey! Together\, we’ll explore some fascinating questions: How did the monks live in the past? What does a monastery landscape consist of? Did you know that in the past\, fields\, forests\, ponds\, and even entire villages used to belong to a monastery? On this varied guided tour\, we’ll explore Zwettl Abbey and uncover many fascinating stories and secrets. Be sure to bring a warm vest. \n \n\nMonday\, July 20\, 2026\, 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. \n“Adventure Pond” with Irene Lüdemann and Patricia Ernstbrunner \nWhat actually lives in the pond\, and which animals need the water? Why are ponds part of the monastery landscape\, and what does that even mean? We’ll explore the answers to these questions and more together with you. With a dip net\, magnifying glasses\, and other gear\, you’ll experience the adventure of the pond. Please bring sunscreen\, sturdy shoes\, and rain gear. \n \n\nWednesday\, August 5\, 2026\, 9:00–11:30 a.m. \nHeroes of the Library with Elisabeth Moll and Andreas Gamerith \nA monastery library isn’t just home to religious books—no\, you’ll also find heroes like Hercules (as well as unicorns and Cerberus\, the hellhound) during an exciting journey of discovery. In addition to exploring illustrations and old books from centuries long past\, we’ll also become artists ourselves and create our own designs for library paintings. Please bring clothes that can get dirty. \n \n\nWednesday\, August 12\, 2026\, 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. \nMake Your Own Herb Bouquet for the Assumption with Christiane Klinger \nBecome a monastery herbalist and learn about the herbs associated with the Assumption of Mary and discover more about their healing properties. To do so\, explore the monastery’s terraced garden at Zwettl Abbey and make your own traditional herb bouquet for the Feast of the Assumption. You’re welcome to bring it with you to the herb blessing on August 15. It’s said to bring protection and blessings to you and your family. Of course\, as befits a herbalist\, you’ll pick your own herbs for your break-time drink. Snacking on fruit from the abbey’s snack garden is also allowed as a pick-me-up during your break. \n \n\nDetailed information can be found at https://ferienspiel.zwettl.at/\, where you can also register for the program events. \nThese events are educational programs organized as part of the Interreg project ATCZ00007 Cisterscapes VB-Zw-ZnS.

SUMMARY:Ebrach Music Summer: KLANGKATHEDRALE
DESCRIPTION:SOUND CATHEDRAL\nAnton Bruckner (1824-1896)\nMass No. 1 in D minor\nTe Deum \nMunich Philharmonic Choir\nRehearsal: Andreas Herrmann\nPhilharmonie Festiva\nGerd Schaller\, conductor \nSubject to change without notice. \nThe now legendary and internationally acclaimed Bruckner cycle in Ebrach with the Philharmonie Festiva continues – this time with two monumental choral-symphonic masterpieces by Anton Bruckner. His Mass in D minor once made such a lasting impression on conductor Johann Ritter von Herbeck that he persuaded Bruckner to move to Vienna. The Te Deum\, in turn\, is one of the most impressive musical eulogies of all.\nA truly monumental sound experience awaits you – with a top-class cast: the Munich Philharmonic Choir\, which has already celebrated great success with Bruckner’s Mass in F minor\, Herbeck’s Great Mass\, Goldmark’s opera Merlin and\, most recently\, Haydn’s Creation at the Ebrach Music Summer\, guarantees top musical quality this year too – together with the Philharmonie Festiva and an international ensemble of soloists.\nThe former Ebrach Abbey Church will once again become a cathedral of sound. An experience that you will not only hear\, but feel. Don’t miss out on it. \nTickets at 29 | 39 | 44 | 54 €
