SUMMARY:Course: Construction and reconstruction of a dry stone wall
DESCRIPTION:Stone by stone – Workshop: Construction and reconstruction of a dry stone wall \nDry stone walls have been a defining element of our cultural landscape for centuries. Especially on steep slopes where vines are grown. They are not only functional\, but also a piece of living history. The Maulbronn monastery vineyard is an outstanding example of these walls built from reed sandstone. It was partly laid out in the Middle Ages and is now used as a vineyard again to the west. \nWhat makes dry stone walls so special?\n✓ Pure craftsmanship – with traditional know-how\n✓ Naturally built – with stones from the region\n✓ Durable and stable – as they are also frost-resistant\n✓ Slope stabilization – they keep the humus in the terraces\n✓ Heat storage – during the day they store sun\, at night they give off heat\n✓ Increased biodiversity – ecologically valuable habitat for plants and animals\n✓ Local recreational value – landscape experience and unique views during walks \nBut nature leaves its mark: dry stone walls are exposed to the elements and need to be regularly maintained or rebuilt in damaged areas. \nExperience the art of dry stone walling up close \nIn our workshop\, participants learn the art of dry stone wall building: from the basics of stone working to expert instruction on how to build and reconstruct a vineyard dry stone wall. \nMore detailed information on the program\, the venues and the participation fee can be found at the following link: \nDrywalls_Flyer.indd

SUMMARY:Ebrach Music Summer: BEETHOVEN AND ROSSINI
DESCRIPTION:BEETHOVEN AND ROSSINI\nGioachino Rossini (1792-1868)\nThe Italian in Algiers\, Overture\nLudwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)\nViolin Concerto in D major op. 61\nSymphony No. 7 in A major op. 92 \nJan Mráček\nCzech Symphony Orchestra Prague\nGerd Schaller\, conductor \nSubject to change without notice. \nTickets at 39 | 44 | 49 € \nThe Czech Symphony Orchestra Prague\, one of the leading orchestras in the Czech Republic\, will open the Ebrach Music Summer 2026 with masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Gioachino Rossini. The overture to “The Italian in Algiers” is a sparkling masterpiece full of wit\, rhythmic energy and dramatic surprises – a prime example of Rossini’s brilliant operatic artistry. Beethoven’s violin concerto – famous for its wonderful melodies and balanced form – is one of the most frequently performed works in music history. The internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso Jan Mráček\, concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra\, promises an extraordinary listening experience in the magnificent Kaisersaal of Ebrach Monastery – a room whose dimensions correspond to those of Beethoven’s time. The music of the great Viennese classical composer unfolds its full effect here\, not only visually but also acoustically. In the second part of the evening\, you can expect Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony\, which was celebrated by none other than Richard Wagner as the “apotheosis of dance”. A sparkling\, symphonic-dance prelude to a summer full of music in the heart of Franconia!

SUMMARY:Ebracher Musiksommer: Baroque Virtuosos
DESCRIPTION:Baroque Virtuoso\nJohann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nOrchestral Suite No. 3 in D major BWV 1068\nConcerto for violin\, oboe and orchestra in C minor BWV 1060R\nConcerto for two violins and orchestra in D minor BWV 1043\nGeorge Frideric Handel (1685-1759)\nWater Music\, Suite II in D major \nOrchestra with Gewandhaus musicians Leipzig\nGerd Schaller\, conductor \nFestive baroque music in the Kaisersaal with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel has always been very popular. When musicians from the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra also perform this concert\, the crowds are particularly large. Experience has shown that the Leipzig orchestra’s traditional guest performance as part of the Ebrach Summer of Music sells out quickly – so it’s worth booking your tickets early!\nUnder the title VIRTUOSES BAROQUE\, the program this time features true gems of the Baroque repertoire\, with the solo concertos presented promising a very special treat for the ears. Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 offers particularly festive sounds\, and the famous Air from it is one of Bach’s best-known works. His concerto for violin and oboe is often regarded as an adaptation of Bach’s earlier harpsichord concerto\, with the violin and oboe taking on the role of the harpsichord. In the concerto for two violins\, on the other hand\, the two soloists enter into an exciting competition. The program is rounded off by the D major suite from Handel’s Water Music\, which revives the former splendour of a royal river journey. A musical treat that is guaranteed to delight! \nSubject to change without notice. \nTickets at 39 | 44 | 49 €
