DESCRIPTION:The tradition continues… on Saturday\, July 05 and Sunday\, July 06\, 2025 \n This year’s summer festival will once again take place around the Bildhäuser Scheune. Numerous offers and attractions await visitors young and old on the monastery grounds and in the monastery store. On Saturday\, July 5\, 2025\, there will be coffee and cake in the Bildhäuser Scheune from 14:30. From 19:00 – 22:00\, the band “Venus” will once again be playing on the stage in front of the barn. Admission is free!     \nOn Sunday\, 06.07.2025 we start at 10:00 a.m. with a festive service in front of the Bildhäuser barn. In case of unfavorable weather in the church.  \nFrom 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. festivities in and around the Bildhäuser Scheune. \nThe monastery store is open on Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm!

SUMMARY:Wechterswinkel Monastery: Medieval festival
DESCRIPTION:For the second time\, a medieval festival will be held in and around Wechterswinkel Monastery to coincide with the medieval exhibition. Medieval folk set up camp around the barn and in the courtyard\n. Some craftsmen even invite visitors to join in and try out their skills. Knights are also guests\, explaining the various weapons and demonstrating their spectacular martial art\n. On the adjacent meadow\, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of jugglers and try their hand at artistic skills under supervision. A variety of medieval games\nare waiting to be discovered. All kinds of traders come together and offer their wares for sale. Minstrels frame the medieval festival musically with their instruments. There will also be plenty of culinary delights\non offer. The exhibition “Women’s lives in the Middle Ages” on the first floor of the monastery will be open during the event. Guided tours will take place on both days. SUMMARY:European Heritage Volunteers at Stična Abbey
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to inform you that Slovene Museum of Christianity has initiated a joint project with European Heritage Volunteers: the EHV Training Course will take place in Stična this August. \nThe project at Stična Monastery will include twelve young volunteers from all over the Europe and focus on the conservation and restoration of historic stone surfaces\, integrating practical conservation work with a comprehensive educational programme. \nVarious similar activities within the Slovene Museum of Christianity and the EHV will be part of the accompanying agenda\, including a main event with a presentation of the project\, scheduled for August 7 in the afternoon (more information will follow). \nParticipants will also visit our partners in the Božidar Jakac Art Museum and former Cistercian monastery in Kostanjevica na Krki and learn about the wider context of the Cistercian heritage and the significance of the Cistercian Order\, both in the past and in the present. \nThe project is made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia\, Cistercian Abbey Stična\, European Heritage Volunteers and European Heritage Label Bureau. \nMore at: https://heritagevolunteers.eu/EuropeanHeritageTrainingCourses/TrainingCourses2025/ConservationAndRestorationOfStoneSurfaces?

DESCRIPTION:The National Institute for Monument Preservation\, the Museum and Gallery of the Northern Pilsen Region in Mariánská Týnice and the National Technical Museum – Center for Architectural Heritage invite you to the conference “The Plasy Monastery in Context”\, which will take place on September 11-13\, 2025 in the premises of the Center for Architectural Heritage in Plasy. \nInternational specialist conference to reflect on the development of the monastery and its embedding in the European context. Plasy Monastery is firmly anchored in Czech historiography as well as in architectural\, artistic and intellectual research. In 2025\, it will be 880 years since the first Cistercians arrived in the valley of the Střela River. DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the “European Heritage Days”\, Dr. Andreas Gamerith\, Zwettl Abbey Archive\, and Elisabeth Moll\, MBA\, Zwettl Town Archive\, shed light on Zwettl’s historical bridges: from the Romanesque Bridge\, probably the oldest technical structure in Austria\, to the bridges of the early 20th century\, which used state-of-the-art innovations.  \n The current structural measures on Zwettl bridges – implemented as part of the Interreg project “Cisterscapes VB – Zw – ZnS” funded by the European Union – are also presented.

DESCRIPTION:The Doberan Monastery Days are being held under the heading “NIGHBARE LOVE AND CHARITY IN THE CISTERCIAN MONASTERY”. The basic Christian concern of\ncharity is expressed in the Cistercian monastery in the proverbial hospitality and care of the poor and sick. We have invited guests to\nwho have interesting things to tell us about this topic from a historical and contemporary perspective in and around Doberan Monastery and beyond.\nThe Minister of Social Affairs of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern\, Ms. Stefanie Drese\, has taken on the patronage of the Doberan Monastery Days. To kick things off on Friday\, the vocal group VOX NOSTRA will perform medieval songs in Doberan Minster. DESCRIPTION:The Abbey Library in Waldsassen\nStudies on history\, inventory and reception\n\n\n\nBook presentation by Dr. Georg Schrott\, Sprockhövel\, and Christian Malzer M.A.\, Würzburg\nVenue: Waldsassen\, Kunsthaus Waldsassen\, Kunstgasse 1\n\nThe Waldsassen Abbey Library is a double phenomenon: as the famous hall with its life-size limewood atlases\, the interpretation of which has still not come to a definite conclusion; and of course as the book collection\, which was transferred to the Amberg Provincial Library after secularization. In the current volume of research\, new questions have been raised about the expressive intention of the artistic decoration and new theories have been developed about the prehistory of the hall. The baroque library catalog and the surviving books were examined under various aspects.   \n\nFree admission.
