On October 23 and 24, the European Heritage Label (EHL) site Cisterscapes – Cistercian Landscapes Connecting Europe hosted a regional meeting of EHL sites from Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. At the invitation of the National Coordinator for the EKS in Germany, the event brought together representatives of the EKS sites and the government to strengthen cooperation and tackle common challenges in the promotion of European cultural heritage. The aim of the meeting was to promote networking and cooperation between the EHL sites and the National Coordinators and at the same time to discuss strategies for raising awareness and increasing the impact of the label.

Host Johann Kalb commented: “As District Administrator of the Bamberg district, it was a great pleasure for me to host the regional meeting. It was a great opportunity to get to know the other EKS sites and at the same time to present the successful cooperation within our Cisterscapes network with 17 partner sites in five countries since 2019. This exchange across national borders is the key to the lively communication of our shared cultural heritage.”

The two-day event took place at the Bamberg district office and the Ebrach monastery landscape. A visit to the church and the EKS information center awaited the guests there. The highlight was the exclusive concert by the Capella Antiqua Bambergensis in the early Gothic St. Michael’s Chapel, which was also attended by other invited guests.
