Songs by Hildegard von Bingen. In the Wechterswinkel monastery church, consecrated in 1179, songs are performed in honor of the saint who died in 1179 and who corresponded by letter with the sisters of Wechterswinkel. Marijke Daphne Meerwijk (soprano) and Annette von Brenndorff (flute) will present a concert of exceptional quality at the original venue. Engelhard von Langheim and Saint Hildegard both corresponded with Abbess Mechthildes of Wechterswinkel, so this weekend’s concert at this authentic location will honor these three figures from the 12th century.
