The monastery landscape of Zwettl Abbey, which has been awarded the European Heritage Label, also includes elements that are located on the site of today’s military training area. These include the former pilgrimage church of St. Thomas in Dachsgraben, which was abandoned under Emperor Joseph II and possibly dates back to pre-Christian cults.

The excursion participants take a bus to the Allentsteig military training area. Colonel Julius Schlapschy will give an introductory lecture at TÜPL. The group then visits the former pilgrimage church of St. Thomas in Dachsgraben and the quarry in Pötzles and Döllersheim. The excursion will be led by Dr. Andreas Gamerith.
