Visitors can expect an exciting program about history, architecture and the cultural landscape. In addition to traditional guided tours of the impressive monastery complex, those interested can also explore the approximately 7.2-kilometre "Small Monastery Landscape Trail" at 2 p.m., led by Hans-Georg Sievers. This route leads through a cultural landscape designed by the Cistercians with historic watercourses, canals, ponds and forests - impressive evidence of their medieval water management, which is still alive today. We look forward to welcoming you on Open Monument Day - on a journey of discovery through the monastery, cultural landscape and the history of a European heritage site. As part of the Stiftland Days organized by IKom Stiftland, EKS project manager Martina Zanner provides information about the Rosary Station Trail, which connects Waldsassen with the Holy Trinity Church in Kappl. Bridge builders! – The Zwettl monastery landscape and its bridges
Zwettl Monastery Zwettl Abbey 1, Zwettl, Lower Austria, ÖsterreichOn the occasion of the "European Heritage Days", Dr. Andreas Gamerith, Zwettl Abbey Archive, and Elisabeth Moll, MBA, Zwettl Town Archive, shed light on Zwettl's historical bridges: from the Romanesque Bridge, probably the oldest technical structure in Austria, to the bridges of the early 20th century, which used state-of-the-art innovations. The current structural measures on Zwettl bridges - implemented as part of the Interreg project "Cisterscapes VB - Zw - ZnS" funded by the European Union - are also presented.

Doberan Monastery: Doberan Monastery Days “Charity and Mercy in the Cistercian Monastery”
The Doberan Monastery Days are being held under the heading “NIGHBARE LOVE AND CHARITY IN THE CISTERCIAN MONASTERY”. The basic Christian concern of charity is expressed in the Cistercian monastery in the proverbial hospitality and care of the poor and sick. We have invited guests to who have interesting things to tell us about this topic from a historical and contemporary perspective in and around Doberan Monastery and beyond. The Minister of Social Affairs of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Ms. Stefanie Drese, has taken on the patronage of the Doberan Monastery Days. To kick things off on Friday, the vocal group VOX NOSTRA will perform medieval songs in Doberan Minster. The Doberan Monastery Days 2025 will conclude on Sunday with a guided tour of the places where guests were accommodated and the sick and poor were cared for in our monastery in the Middle Ages. This is why Waldviertel carp pond farming is now a World Agricultural Heritage Site. Together with the two pond rangers Irene Lüdemann and Patricia Ernstbrunner, learn more about the tasks of a pond keeper and the tasks of the pond itself for the diversity of animals, plants and the climate. This workshop is funded by Interreg Austria - Czech Republic in the project "Cisterscapes - VB-Zw-ZnS". The meeting point is at the bus stop on the thoroughfare, opposite the new school building. The "Germany sings and sounds" initiative was launched in 2020 with the involvement of Günther Beckstein (former Bavarian Minister President) and has taken place every year since then on October 3. This year, for the first time, the Barbara Stamm Academy is organizing the concert together with the Dominikus-Ringeisen-Werk and the choir "Capella Nova" under the direction of Carsten Krüger. Guided tours in Ebrach If you come to Ebrach, you suddenly imagine yourself in the middle of the Steigerwald in a baroque residential town. We follow in the footsteps of the gray monks who owned this region. Even though the former monastery has been home to a prison for over 150 years, traces of the once mighty self-sufficient monks can still be found everywhere. In 2024, the Ebrach monastery landscape was awarded the European Heritage Label. Follow in the footsteps of the Cistercians with us and find out why!
