Altenberg Monastery , DeutschlandIn 2024, the Altenberg Monastery Landscape was awarded the European Heritage Label together with 16 other monastery landscapes in 5 European countries. To mark the award of the European Heritage Label to the Altenberg monastery landscape, the Altenberg Beautification and Cultural Association (VKA), together with the Rheinisch-Bergisch district and the municipality of Odenthal, is organizing a monastery market that reflects the life, work and cuisine of the Cistercians and at the same time provides entertainment for young and old. On the last weekend of the Easter holidays, 26 and 27 April 2025, a small market with artisanal and regional products as well as culinary, cultural and children's programs will take place at Altenberg Cathedral. There will also be guided tours of Altenberg and the monastery landscape. The foundation of monasteries in the Middle Ages using the example of Zwettl Abbey

After the political order of Charlemagne, the Carolingian Empire began to disintegrate. Before and after the turn of the millennium, political reorganization began between the Enns and the Vienna Woods and north of the Danube. The work of the Cistercian Bernard of Clairvaux and his monastic reform work in France reached as far as Zwettl in the Waldviertel. How and to what extent ecclesiastical personalities influenced the development of our country is the focus of this lecture. Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for discussion over a snack.

Loccum Monastery , DeutschlandOnce again, the community of Cistercian heirs in Germany has been invited to an annual meeting at the Cistercian monastery of Loccum, founded in 1163. The abbot of the monastery, Bishop Ralf Meister, has initiated this meeting in Loccum himself and is looking forward to our coming together with the whole team of the monastery. The state bishop will celebrate the opening service with us in the monastery church and speak to us about the office of abbot from a Protestant perspective as part of the conference. Loccum Monastery is home to the seminary for vicar training for the four Lutheran churches in Lower Saxony and the Church of Bremen. Together with the Institute for Religious Education, the Pastoral College and the Protestant Academy, Loccum is an important place of education and dialog for the regional church of Hanover. Spring excursion: pilgrimage church of St. Thomas in Dachsgraben, Pötzles quarry, Döllersheim
Zwettl fire station Kremser Street 11, Zwettl, Lower Austria, ÖsterreichThe monastery landscape of Zwettl Abbey, which has been awarded the European Heritage Label, also includes elements that are located on the site of today's military training area. These include the former pilgrimage church of St. Thomas in Dachsgraben, which was abandoned under Emperor Joseph II and possibly dates back to pre-Christian cults. The excursion participants take a bus to the Allentsteig military training area. Colonel Julius Schlapschy will give an introductory lecture at TÜPL. The group then visits the former pilgrimage church of St. Thomas in Dachsgraben and the quarry in Pötzles and Döllersheim. The excursion will be led by Dr. Andreas Gamerith. The bus trip, guided tours and lecture as well as the cost of lunch are included in the price.
