The Green Week is regarded as the most important international trade fair for the food industry, agriculture and horticulture and is aimed at both trade visitors and the general public. The monastery town of Waldsassen presented the culinary heritage of the Cistercians at the Genuss Bayern stand.

  • Gingerbread from the Rosner bakery – Libeti, a type of honey gingerbread, was produced in large quantities by the Cistercians
  • Onion sweets from the Cistercian abbey of Waldsassen
  • Parsley seeds – Herbs were very important in the monastery kitchen and were also incorporated into the libeti.
  • Recipes from the Cistercian cooking pot

Michaela Kaniber (Member of the Bavarian Parliament, Minister of State for Food, Agriculture and Forestry) and Hubert Aiwanger (Deputy Bavarian Minister-President, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy) enjoyed a few delicacies from the Cistercian kitchen.

Mascot Berni was there and explored the halls. He found other (former) Cistercian sites that presented their culinary heritage, including our cisterscapes partner Schulpforte.
