The Czech Symphony Orchestra Prague, one of the leading orchestras in the Czech Republic, will open the Ebrach Music Summer 2026 with masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Gioachino Rossini. The overture to “The Italian in Algiers” is a sparkling masterpiece full of wit, rhythmic energy and dramatic surprises – a prime example of Rossini’s brilliant operatic artistry. Beethoven’s violin concerto – famous for its wonderful melodies and balanced form – is one of the most frequently performed works in music history. The internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso Jan Mráček, concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, promises an extraordinary listening experience in the magnificent Kaisersaal of Ebrach Monastery – a room whose dimensions correspond to those of Beethoven’s time. The music of the great Viennese classical composer unfolds its full effect here, not only visually but also acoustically. In the second part of the evening, you can expect Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, which was celebrated by none other than Richard Wagner as the “apotheosis of dance”. A sparkling, symphonic-dance prelude to a summer full of music in the heart of Franconia!
