• Wechterswinkel Monastery: Exhibition Kloster erLEBEN – Women’s lives in the Middle Ages

In the Middle Ages, the vast majority of the population lived in the countryside. Women carried out a variety of tasks in addition to the strenuous work in the fields: They prepared the daily meals, washed clothes, hauled water and made clothes for their families. The only way to escape the grueling cycle of childbearing and hard physical labor was to live in a monastery. It was only in the flourishing cities of the late Middle Ages that new opportunities opened up for women. Women were successful in trade, they worked in many trades, ran merchant stores or sold their products. The economic development of the cities had a lasting effect on the position of women. The exhibition highlights the different roles of women in the Middle Ages. The many tasks that women had to perform are vividly illustrated, from basket weaving to feather grinding, from gathering herbs to brewing beer . The exhibition "Women's lives in the Middle Ages" was conceived by the art historian Dr. Alice Selinger, Dreieich. Saturday, 15.03.2025 to Sunday, 22.06.2025 EXHIBITION The exhibition is complemented by an accompanying program for different age groups . Further information will be available from March at www.kloster-wechterswinkel- kultur.de and in the Rhön-Grabfeld cultural calendar. Wednesday - Sunday and public holidays from 13:00 - 17:00. • City of Maulbronn: Exhibition “The cold heart” glass art by Kerstin Müllerperth

The city of Maulbronn cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibition "The Cold Heart" glass art by Kerstin Müllerperth on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 7.30 pm in the Maulbronn town hall (former fruit box of the Maulbronn monastery) Welcome Mayor Aaron Treut Introduction Martin Ehlers, Maulbronn City Archives Music Magdalena and Marina Müllerperth, piano Followed by a stand-up reception The exhibition is open from May 31 to June 15, 2025 Weekdays: 13.00-17.00 Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 11.00-17.00 Kerstin Müllerperth, born in 1962, comes from the Greiner-Perth glassblowing dynasty in Türingen and continues the family tradition on her own artistic path. Her delicately designed glass - sometimes sober and cool, sometimes Venetian and playful - has won prominent awards . In addition to the highest level of craftsmanship, the art glassblower also needs the right intuition for the material in order to create glass pictures from her thoughts. The pictures in the exhibition are based on Wilhelm Hauff's fairy tale "The Cold Heart", in which, on the one hand, the helpful little glass man promises redemption and, on the other, the glassworks becomes the epitome of failure. Kerstin Müllerperth takes us on a fairytale journey into the mystical Black Forest of the last century with mysterious forest spirits and multi-layered characters. www.muellerperth.de

    ARGE Fish Tirschenreuth

ARGE Fisch in Tirschenreuth, in cooperation with TEGOF and Fischerzeuger-Ring, is planning an educational trip on the topic: Current challenges in pond farming and how other regions in Europe are dealing with them. This year, we will be traveling to the Austrian Waldviertel and South Bohemia. We in the Waldviertel are particularly interested in the recognition of the pond area as "agricultural cultural heritage (GIAHS)". The program includes information on organic carp, otters, regional marketing, fish processing and the touristic use of the pond landscape. Factory tours are planned in Litschau, Waidhofen/Thaya, Haslau, Weitra and at the Schuh fish leather factory in Reitzenschlag. Visits to the Zwettl Monastery and Vyssi Brod Monastery complete the program. The tasting of regional specialties, including smoked carp caviar, the exchange of experiences with carp princess Michaela Altmann and the Waldviertler Teichrangern and other creative ideas for a sustainable carp pond economy can give us many new impulses. On the outward and return journey we will visit the Czech pond area near Budweis. The area is characterized by huge ponds with hundreds of hectares and large farms that cultivate several thousand hectares of ponds. As always, the participants will be well catered for.
