The National Institute for Monument Preservation, the Museum and Gallery of the Northern Pilsen Region in Mariánská Týnice and the National Technical Museum – Center for Architectural Heritage invite you to the conference “The Plasy Monastery in Context”, which will take place on September 11-13, 2025 in the premises of the Center for Architectural Heritage in Plasy.
International specialist conference to reflect on the development of the monastery and its embedding in the European context. Plasy Monastery is firmly anchored in Czech historiography as well as in architectural, artistic and intellectual research. In 2025, it will be 880 years since the first Cistercians arrived in the valley of the Střela River. This event is traditionally commemorated by a specialist conference, which primarily summarizes the new findings of the last decade.
The conference papers focus on three main thematic blocks:
“The monastery and its buildings”
“The monastery and its people”
“The monastery and its landscape”
